Box Score AUSTIN, Texas – The St. Edward's women's basketball team concluded the first annual Calvin Townes Memorial with their second win over Texas A&M–Commerce on Saturday, 95–57. MADDIE WHEELER was one of five Hilltoppers in double figures leading the way with 19 points for the game. The Hilltoppers improve to 2-0 on the season.

Head Coach J.J. Riehl was pleased with the total team effort. "To have five players in double figures just gives validity to our depth. We were solid inside with our bigs. Erika (Rousculp), Kat (Brisbane), and Valencia (White) were really good tonight. Mel and Maddie found their touch and were solid from the perimeter."

KATHLEEN BRISBANE scored the first two buckets of the game for St. Edward's giving them the early 4-3 lead. Wheeler began to open up the lead with a lay-up and a basket from downtown for the 11-8 lead. Wheeler drained her second trey at the 12:35 mark lengthening the lead to 15-10.

STEPHANIE DEKKERS got into the mix with a three-point basket of her own with ten minutes left in the first half, putting St. Edward's ahead, 20-10. Brisbane scored four of her 13 points in a two-minute span giving the Hilltoppers a 28-12 advantage. Wheeler scored the final points of the half for St. Edward's and they went into the break leading 46-25.

Riehl commented on the play of Dekkers, "Stephanie's total game was really good. Her stat line tonight was great and she played a complete game. She's really running the team well."

TAMU-Commerce entered the second half motivated and cut the Hilltopper lead to 16 points. Foul shots by Wheeler and Brisbane stopped the run and put St. Edward's ahead by 20 with 17:00 minutes remaining.

MILEKA LOYDRAKE started a 7-0 run by the Hilltoppers. Loydrake, in her second game at St. Edward's, made an impact scoring 17 points. Rousculp and Dekkers chipped in during the run and St. Edward's led 71-44, with just under 10 minutes remaining.

After a three-minute lull of neither team scoring a basket, Loydrake drove baseline and converted a three-point play. The Hilltoppers found themselves ahead by 30 points when newcomer JAIMIE KADLECEK and VALENCIA WHITE scored jumpers. White put the stamp on the 95-57 victory with two jumpers from 15 feet out during the final seconds.

St. Edward's shot better than 46% from the field throughout the duration of the game compared to the 35% that Texas A&M–Commerce produced. The Hilltoppers outrebounded the Lions 50-36.

White finished the game with 15 points nine rebounds, while Rousculp grabbed her second double-double in as many games with 12 points and 13 rebounds. Brisbane scored 13 points and grabbed five rebounds.

Riehl concluded, "We are happy with where we are after the opening weekend. We know we have got some things we need to improve on and we look forward to lacing them up again on Wednesday."

The Hilltoppers will be back in action Wednesday as they host Concordia at 6:00 p.m. at the Recreation and Convocation Center (RCC) on the St. Edward's campus. Live video and stats will be available through the Hilltopper athletic website.
