Battle of Saints goes three overtimes before Hilltoppers fall to Rattlers, 105-103

How it happened                                        
-St. Edward's led by as many as eight points in the first half thanks to 10 points off of the bench by CASEY RILEY.
-The Hilltoppers led by eight points, 70-62, with 7:08 remaining but a 12-4 run by St. Mary's over the next five minutes to knot the score, 74-74, with 2:38 remaining.
-Two free throws by DAWN KIEL with 1:14 left gave St. Edward's a one-point advantage. After both teams failed to score in their next possession, Jackie Woods stepped to the line for the Rattlers with 10 seconds. She would only make one and we were headed to overtime.
-Trailing by two in the first overtime, St. Edward's got two free throws from ERIKA ROUSCULP with 28 seconds left to push it into a second overtime.
-Down five in the second overtime with 1:52 remaining, the Hilltoppers got a huge three-pointer by Kiel. Riley nailed two free throws with 26 seconds left to send the game into another overtime.
-In the third overtime, the big shot came from Kyra Littlejohn. With 1:20 remaining, the guard tallied a three pointer to push the Rattler lead out to six points. That would prove insurmountable for the Hilltoppers.
 
Beyond the Box Score
-The nine treys the Hilltoppers made were tied for fourth most in school history and the 30 fouls committed were tied for most in school history.
-This was the seventh game between both teams that has gone to overtime.
-The three overtimes is the second longest game in school history. The longest was four overtime game against Incarnate Word during the 2004-05 season.
-The 208 combined points were third most in the record books. St. Edward's defeated Panhandle State, 113-111 last season and downed Huston-Tillotson, 105-104 in the 1994-95 season.
