Box Score WICHITA FALLS, Texas – The St. Edward's Hilltoppers played a thrilling game under the lights on Friday night.
ANDREW FOX scored the overtime goal to give the Hilltoppers a 2-1 decision over Midwestern State.
St. Edward's opened the game firing on all cylinders with several chances to score off of free kicks and corner kick opportunities, but the Hilltoppers couldn't find the back of the net. Instead, it was Midwestern State that got on the board first during the 33
rd minute of action. Len Smith headed in the goal from six yards out. St. Edward's was down 1-0 despite outshooting the Mustangs in the first half
St. Edward's responded with a goal of their own by
DANIEL RILEY early in the second half. Riley headed in the goal from the far post off a corner kick by
ANDREW FOX. This was Riley's second goal of the season.

JOHN KASCHAK kept the game even by making several saves. The St. Edward's defense also came up with several team saves and blocks from preventing any score late in the contest.
The Hilltoppers had the only real scoring chance in the first overtime session.
ANDREW FOX was dealt a corner kick, but an opportunity couldn't be mounted. Midwestern State also had a corner kick, but couldn't take advantage.
St. Edward's conduced an early counter attack with minutes of opening the final overtime period.
NATE COONS crossed the ball and
ANDREW FOX knocked in the winning goal of the game just two minutes into the final session. This was Fox's third goal of the season.
JOHN KASCHAK made six saves on the night and came up with his second victory of the year. The Hilltoppers had the advantage with nine corner kicks to the Mustangs seven.
"Midwestern State is a tough place to play and I was proud of the players coming back to win the game after giving up a soft goal," said Coach
Brian Young.
Young added, "Kaschak, Fox, and Riley continue to step up at the right times. We now have a very big challenge against West Texas on Friday."
The Hilltoppers will be back in action on Friday, Sept. 27 as they return home to take on West Texas A&M. Kick-off is set for 4:00 p.m. at Lewis-Chen Family Field. Live video and stats will be available through the Hilltopper Athletic website.
