Box Score PORTALES, N.M. – The St. Edward's women's soccer team appeared to be heading for a third-straight tie as time was running out in Sunday afternoon's match against Eastern New Mexico. With two minutes left in the second overtime period, ALLY LINDQUIST came through with the Golden goal off a cornerkick by AMANDA TABONE. The #19 Hilltoppers are now 3-0-2 on the season.

St. Edward's outshot the Zias of Eastern New Mexico, 16-3, for the match and 10 to 1 in the first half. The Hilltoppers had trouble getting the ball in the net in large part because of Eastern New Mexico goalkeeper Fabian Wilson's nine saves.

In the 9th minute, KELLY DAVIS was the first to have a shot saved by Wilson. Davis had another shot saved by Wilson in the 20th minute. Wilson denied MEGAN ANDERSON's attempt in the 38th minute.

The Hilltoppers took five more attempts in the second half, but couldn't get one past the keeper. In the 47th minute, RACHEL MURRAY had her attempt saved by Wilson. Wilson also saved a header attempt by CAILYN TRAPANI in the 71st minute.

St. Edward's goalkeeper DANIELLE LICARIONE made two saves in the half with the first coming in the 58th minute on an attempt by Victoria Perez. In the 87th minute, Licarione made the save on an attempt by Brook Serrano.

The match headed into overtime after no goals through the first 90 minutes. In the first overtime period, neither team was able to get a shot off. In the second overtime, the Hilltoppers were awarded a cornerkick in the 108th minute. Tabone sent the ball toward the goal and Lindquist was there to put in the "Golden goal."

Coach Cowell said the match was "another tough physical battle against a strong regional team. We adapted much better to the field conditions today and continued to create chances even against the strong wind."

Cowell was pleased with the defensive effort. "Our defense of Licarione, KATE ORKILD, LIBBY FISH, and Lindquist played the entire game. We had another shutout and the defense contributed to the winning goal."

The Hilltoppers will be back in action on Saturday against Heartland Conference rival Dallas Baptist. Kickoff from Dallas is set for 1 p.m. Live stats and video will be available through the Dallas Baptist website.
