Post Game InterviewAUSTIN, Texas—The St. Edward's Basketball Team defeated Huston-Tillotson, 90-82, Tuesday evening in the Recreation and Convocation Center. The win gives the Hilltoppers their second best start in school history at 8-0.
In the opening minutes of the first half, Huston-Tillotson (1-4) captured a 13-8 lead over St. Edward's (8-0). Malcolm Ballard led the charge, scoring a three-point play and a jumper to put the Rams up 24-15. Sophomore
ETHAN GILBERT checked in off the bench and put up five quick points to help the Hilltoppers rally back. With 5:31 left, Gilbert registered a four-point play giving St. Edward's a 31-25 edge over Huston-Tillotson. The Hilltoppers would grow their lead to 41-28 as the half closed. RAMIR BURTON and
TREY LINDSEY kicked off the second half with a combined 12 points as Hilltoppers went up 56-38.
JOHN GRAMLICH helped to extend the lead as well, scoring all nine of his points in the second half. Although turnovers allowed the Rams to come within nine down the stretch, St. Edward's outshot Huston-Tillotson registering 68.4 percent from field goal range to the Ram's 50 percent. The Hilltoppers would hold on to win 90-82.
Lindsey led the Hilltoppers with 18 points and nine boards.
HARLEY NUSSMAN helped down low, registering three blocks.
QUINTON LILLEY had a standout defensive and offensive game with seven points, eight rebounds, three assists and two blocks.
