Hilltoppers fall in series finale against UT-Permian Basin, 3-0

Box Score AUSTIN, Texas – The St. Edward's softball team outhit UT-Permian Basin, but could not come up with the big hits as they left eight runners stranded in a 3-0 loss to the Falcons on a rain-soaked Saturday afternoon at Diane Daniels Field.
 
UT-Permian Basin (5-20, 2-4 HC) got on the board in the third inning when Jennie Quam reached on a two-out single through the right side. She would steal second base and come into score on a single to centerfield by Nikki DiSera to put the Falcons ahead, 1-0.
 
St. Edward's (17-10, 4-2 HC) would threaten in the fourth inning, but left two runners on base, and again in the sixth inning, but left the bases loaded.
 
The Falcons added two insurance runs in the top of the seventh inning. The first run scored on bases-loaded hit-by-pitch, and the second on a wild pitch to put the visitors ahead, 3-0.
 
St. Edward's will be back in action Tuesday when they travel to take on NCAA Division I Incarnate Word. The doubleheader is slated for 4 p.m. at Cardinals Softball Field. Live video and stats will be available on the Cardinal Athletic Website.
