Hilltopper Baseball adds nine to 2015 class

AUSTIN, Texas – St. Edward's Baseball head coach Rob Penders is pleased to announce the addition of nine players to the 2015 signing class. All nine players will suit up for the Hilltoppers for the 2015 season. St. Edward's is looking to defend its Heartland Conference crown and advance to the NCAA Regional Tournament for the fourth-straight season.
 
JD Arrowood, 1B, L/L, 6-6, 225, League City, Texas (Wharton JC)
JD lettered two seasons for Keith Case at Wharton Junior College. In his two seasons at Wharton, Arrowood compiled a .322 batting average with three home runs, 62 RBI, and 42 runs scored. He also stole 11 bases while helping lead the Pioneers to the NJCAA Regional Tourney both seasons. He was named all-conference his sophomore season.
 
Played his high school baseball at Clear Springs High School in League City, Texas.

Jonathan Davis, 3B, R/R, 6-0, 230, Missouri City, Texas (Houston)
Jonathan lettered three seasons for Todd Whitting at the University of Houston. In three seasons for the Cougars, Davis hit .280, collecting 41 runs, 79 hits, 19 doubles, one triple, two home runs, while driving in 44 RBI. He was named to the Commissioner's Honor Roll three times, and was CoSIDA Academic All-District his sophomore season.
 
Played his prep baseball for Richard Thistlewater at Fort Bend Elkins High School. His senior season, Davis was named first-team all-district, all-Greater Houston Area, Under Armour All-American, and honorable mention Rawlings All-American.

Luke Gibbons, P, R/R, 6-1, 165, Dallas, Texas (Jesuit College Prep.)
Gibbons lettered three seasons for Paul Ahearne at Jesuit College Prep. in Dallas, Texas. As a senior, he produced a 0.37 ERA. He helped lead the team to three district titles and two bi-district championships. He has thrown two career no-hitters.
 

Eric Hester, P, R/R, 6-1, 195, Georgetown, Texas (Temple JC)
Eric lettered two seasons for Craig McMurtry at Temple Junior College. While at Temple, Hester compiled a 14-6 record with a 1.98 ERA, while striking out 86 batters in 123.0 innings of work. His sophomore season he was named all-conference, conference pitcher of the year, all-region, and honorable mention all-America. He helped lead his team to two regional tournaments.
 
Hester played his high school baseball for Adam Foster at Georgetown High School. He helped the team to four-straight playoff appearances and three district titles.

"Eric brings a competitive spirit to our program that we like to have from our pitching staff. Hester is coming from a well-established program at Temple College where he pitched for Craig McMurtry. He is the reigning pitcher of the year from the North Texas Junior College Athletic Conference and we are excited to have him help us on the mound." Assistant Coach Dave Wood
 

Ryan McPhail, OF, R/R, 6-0, 175, Austin, Texas (Westlake HS)
Ryan played his prep baseball for Jeff Montgomery at Westlake High School in Austin, Texas. His senior season, McPhail produced a .290 batting average with eight triples, two home runs, and 15 stolen bases.

"He has all the tools. He can run, throw, and has shown the ability to hit for some power. As he matures he is going to turn into a special player for us. He comes from Westlake High School and played his summer baseball with Austin Wings. The programs he has played for do a great job of preparing players for the college level, so we look forward to having the opportunity to continue his development." Assistant Coach Dave Wood
 

Aaron Moore, P, R/R, 6-2, 215, Austin, Texas (Portland)
Aaron lettered two seasons for Chris Sperry at the University of Portland. Moore made five appearances for the Pilots during his two seasons.
 
Moore played his high school baseball at nearby St. Stephens Episcopal School. He led the team with a 2.25 ERA his junior season and tallied a 3.20 ERA his senior season.
 

Joseph Olson, C, R/R, 6-1, 210, Waco, Texas (Stephen F. Austin)
Joseph lettered two seasons for Johnny Cardenas at Stephen F. Austin. In his two-plus seasons, Olson appeared in 68 games, tallying a .258 batting average with 19 runs scored, seven doubles, one home run and 27 RBI.
 
Played his prep baseball at Waco Robinson High School. Was named first-team all-state his senior season, while helping lead his team to a state runner-up finish. Olson hit .396 his senior year, and also .420 his junior season when he was named the district's most valuable player.

"Joseph is going to bring us some strong leadership. He is transferring from Stephen F. Austin where he was an everyday starter as a sophomore. He graduated from a historically strong baseball school in Waco Robinson High School. We are looking forward to Joseph's leadership qualities, as well as his physical ability." Stuart Patke, P, R/R, 6-3, 230, Austin, Texas (Abilene Christian)
Stuart lettered one season for David Albritton at Abilene Christian. He appeared in eight games last season with a 1-2 record with 16 strikeouts in 15.1 innings of work. Patke also lettered one season at Cisco Junior College where he appeared 10 times out of the bullpen and tallied a 2-1 record with a 3.68 ERA.
 
Played his prep baseball at nearby Austin Bowie High School. Patke was named all-district his senior season.

"He is an Austin Bowie kid who is transferring to us from Abilene Christian. He is a power arm with a plus breaking ball. He has the mentality we are looking for on the mound and we are excited to have him help fill some of the void left by our graduating senior pitchers." Assistant Coach Dave Wood
 

Ryan Pulsifer, C, R/R, 5-10, 165, Frisco, Texas (Paris JC)
Ryan lettered two seasons for Deron Clark at Paris Junior College. He appeared in 45 games for Paris and hit .317 his senior season with 17 RBI from his catcher position. Pulsifer was named second-team all-conference his sophomore season.
 
Pulsifer played his high school baseball at Frisco Centennial High School.
 

Steven Robertson, UTIL, L/R, 5-10, 175, Haslet, Texas (El Paso CC)
Steven lettered two seasons for Robert Martinez at El Paso Community College. Robertson appeared in 63 games during his two seasons at El Paso while driving in 25 RBI. He was named to the WJCAC All-Academic Team his sophomore season.
 
Played his prep baseball for Mike Killian at Byron Nelson High School in Trophy Club, Texas. He was named first-team all-district his senior season after leading his squad to a bi-district championship. That same year he was named Academic All-State.
