AUSTIN, Texas – The St. Edward's Baseball team dominated Oklahoma Panhandle State, 14-0, Friday afternoon, forcing a run-rule on a gloomy day at Lucian-Hamilton Field.
It was St. Edward's (29-10, 15-4 HC) who got on the board first, as the Hilltoppers managed to score five, two-out runs in the bottom of the first inning. The big hit in the inning came off the bat of
WESLEY HARRIS who blasted a three-run home run over the left field wall.
Following two scoreless innings, the Hilltoppers would put another five spot on the board, off three hits and an error, making the score 10-0.
In the bottom of the sixth inning, the Hilltoppers would add four more runs on two hits to push the score to 14-0.
COLLIN SHERROD threw a dominant seven innings for St. Edward's. The hurler did not allow Panhandle State (3-35, 2-17 HC) a run and only three hits over the duration, improving his record to 6-1.
J.D. ARROWOOD tallied two hits in three at bats, recording five RBI on the afternoon. Harris also tallied three RBI.
"We came up with some big hits with runners on base. It was a very good way to start the weekend off. We can't ask anything more of our bats or from Collin (Sherrod). He pitched outstanding," said Head Coach Rob Penders.
The Hilltoppers, who adjusted their schedule to include two games on Saturday instead of one, will tentatively start at noon for a doubleheader against the Aggies. Live coverage can be found on the Hilltopper Athletic Website.
