SAN ANTONIO – A last-second three-pointer by
SEAN WATKINS was disallowed as St. Edward's fell to NCAA Division I Incarnate Word Tuesday in an exhibition contest at the McDermott Center.
St. Edward's trailed by five with 30 seconds left before Watkins hit his first three pointer of the game. His second three at the top of the key was called good at the buzzer but the officials needed to go to the monitor. It was determined that Watkins still had the ball in his hand when the backboard lit up as the Hilltoppers fell to the Cardinals.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- St. Edward's shot 38 percent from the floor in the first half but went 18-for-20 from the free-throw line to go into the break tied, 42-42
- The second half saw six lead changes as both teams shot over 50 percent from the field.
HILLTOPPER NOTES
- RAMIR BURTON had a monster game scoring 23 points to lead the team. The senior was 7-of-11 from the floor and 9-for-12 from the free throw-line.
- Sophomore JAMES TAYLOR added 14 points from his post position, while LANDON GOESLING tallied 12 points off the bench.
- St. Edward's outrebounded Incarnate Word, 38-37.

"I thought the guys were fantastic tonight. Our goal was to be better than we were this past weekend and we accomplished that. This game was marked as an exhibition, but we came here to win. I told our guys that the only thing I am disappointed in tonight is that we didn't score more points than the other team. We got great contributions from 12 guys. Our depth was key tonight, and almost got us the win."
