BAYAMON, P.R. – SHAKERA BARNES and KHIANI CLARK scored a combined 41 points Thursday as St. Edward's women's basketball defeated Kutztown 74-70 in overtime.
 
HALEY JOLY also scored in double digits with 11 points. Clark came one rebound shy of a double-double with nine boards, while Barnes recorded four assists. BAILEY HILL stood out on defense with four steals.
 
The Hilltoppers snap a four-game losing streak as they improve to 2-4 this season. Kutztown falls to 1-4 with the loss.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED

• Barnes put St. Edward's up 8-2 early with six unanswered points and eight of the first 10 on the board.
• BAILEY HILL hit a jumper with 1:03 left in the first quarter to make it 17-13, Hilltoppers, at the break.
• Kutztown pulled within one in the second quarter, but back-to-back steals by Hill kept the Hilltoppers ahead 21-20.
• FAIREN SUTTON and Clark carried St. Edward's into the half with eight points combined to keep a 29-28 advantage.
• With the score tied at 41 in the third quarter, three-pointers from LEXI CUNNINGHAM and Hill sparked a 9-0 to end the period.
• The Golden Bears surged back in the fourth period and converted an and-one opportunity with 28 seconds left to send the game into overtime.
• A three-pointer from ABBY HOPPER with 28 seconds remaining in overtime pushed the Hilltoppers ahead for good.

 
HILLTOPPER NOTES

• Thursday was the first meeting in program history between St. Edward's and Kutztown
• Clark is now averaging 12 points and 8.3 rebounds a game.
• St. Edward's did not trail for the first 25 minutes of play.
• The Hilltoppers shot 48 percent from the floor, their highest offensive output of the season.
