Game Notes
SAN ANTONIO, Texas - The St. Edward's Softball team is prepped and ready to make a run in this weekend's 2016 Heartland Conference Tournament. The No. 4-seeded Hilltoppers, needing a tournament title in order to advance to the NCAA South Central Regional, will start things off with a Thursday morning matchup at 11 a.m. against No. 5-seeded Texas A&M-International. NO-NO-NO...NO HITS FOR YOU
Hilltopper junior righthander LAUREN SLATTEN has made quite the impression. In her first season after transferring from the University of Texas, Slatten has seven shutouts that include two no-hitters. One of those no-hitters came against #9 St. Mary's in a 1-0 victory.
YOU CAN KISS IT GOODBYE
Sophomore third baseman MORGAN DUFOUR has 13 home runs on the season. Add that to the 15 longballs she hit in her freshman campaign, and Dufour has 28 career dingers. The all-time St. Edward's mark is 29, held by Stacy Giles from 2008-11.
WHAT A FINALE
Hilltopper outfielder KAYLA APPLEBY had one heck of a regular season series finale against Rogers State. The freshman was an amazing 9-of-10 from the plate with two homers and six RBI in the series sweep of the Hillcats.
I'LL TAKE THAT WIN AND THAT WIN, AND THROW IN ANOTHER
LAUREN SLATTEN registered the victory in all three games versus UT-Permian Basin earlier this season. Picking up the victory in relief in game one, before back-to-back shutouts against the Falcons to earn the three-game sweep.
150 AND COUNTING
Head Coach Lindsay Gardner became the third member of the 150-win club at St. Edward's last weekend. Gardner is also the second-fastest coach to reach 150 wins as she did it in 264 games as the head coach:
