HOW IT HAPPENED
-In the first half, St. Edward's controlled the pace of play. They outshot St. Mary's 5-1, and that one shot by the Rattlers came with just two seconds left on the clock.
-The second half saw the Hilltoppers outshoot the home team again, 10-4. The Rattlers did get two shots on goal as senior goalkeeper
KEVIN LEIB turned away both attempts.
-Junior
JULIAN SANCHEZ nearly put the game away in the 86
th minute. He received the ball on a breakaway to go one-on-one with the Rattler goalkeeper. Sanchez's shot was tipped by the keeper and hit off the left post.
HILLTOPPER NOTES
-With the victory, St. Edward's increases its lead in the series to 42-15-7. They have now won 10-straight matchups over the Rattlers.
-The shutout was the fifth in six matches this season for the Hilltoppers.
-St. Edward's reduced its conference-leading goals-against average to 0.17.
