AUSTIN, Texas – For the fifth time this season, junior forward
DYLAN ARMSTRONG delivered for his team with St. Edward's taking a double-overtime win over West Texas A&M Thursday at Lewis-Chen Family Field, thanks to Armstrong's goal in the 105th minute to break a scoreless tie.
Armstrong's seventh goal of the season came on an assist from
PABLO COVARRUBIAS on a breakaway where the pass went from centerfield to the left side, and Armstrong struck from the left corner of the box, beating the Buffs' (7-4-1, 5-3-1) goalkeeper, Alexander Vencel.
The 1-0 victory kept SEU unbeaten home this season (6-0-1) and kept the Hilltoppers' hopes alive for a regular season title with the home team improving to 10-2-1 overall and 7-1-1 in Heartland Conference play.
The Hilltoppers tallied 11 shots with four on goal, while the SEU defense held off a determined Buffs offense that collected a season-high for an SEU opponent, 17 total shots, however, none were on goal.

"I think Dylan [Armstrong] had a chance to score in overtime vs. Newman, and it's a bit of redemption for him. Whenever Dylan gets the ball in those kind of spots, he's clinical, and so I think the Newman game, he just didn't finish it. But, anytime in training or in games he's definitely a guy you want in that spot to score. I was real proud of the team's effort. It was a bit of a warm day. West Texas is well coached and the guys grinded one out, which is what we need to do. And, other guys stepped up that hadn't played in a while. So, it's good to get new guys in the mix, so I'm real happy with the win."
