THE RUNDOWN
MIDLAND, Texas – The St. Edward's University women's tennis team concluded its fall season last week at the ITA Oracle Regional Championships at the Bush Tennis Center.
Junior
BETH HAYWARD highlighted the Hilltoppers' regional appearance with a run to the quarterfinals of the main draw in singles. Fellow junior
ELISA GUILLEN also had a strong showing in singles as she advanced to the consolation semifinals before weather forced the remaining consolation matches to be canceled.
In doubles play, the teams of
LAURA GALVAN and Guillen, and
PAOLA CARPIO and Hayward both won their first round matches. Both duos eventually bowed out in the round of 16 with Carpio and Hayward falling to the eventual regional doubles champions from Midwestern State.
HIGHLIGHTS
- Guillen and Hayward combined for a singles record of 6-2 in the tournament.
- Carpio went 10-3 in singles this fall with a 9-2 mark in doubles.
- Guillen carries a three-match winning streak in singles into the spring season.
- SEU posted a singles record of .500 or better at every tournament this fall. Â

14 – St. Edward's finished the weekend with a combined 14 victories.

 84 – The Hilltoppers closed fall play with 84 combined wins across singles and doubles with 49 losses.
