SAN ANTONIO –
The St. Edward's women's tennis team opened up conference play with its first loss of the season, falling 6-1 to St. Mary's on Saturday.

The Hilltoppers started out strong, winning two of three doubles matches to jump out to a 1-0 lead. On the top line, LOLI PERIM and KATE MALAZONIA made quick work of Ashley Pensorn and Marina Vigil, 6-2, while KYLEE SHANNON and FANNI NOVAK secured the doubles point for SEU with a 6-4 victory over Maria Garcia and Alice Thane.

The Rattlers then seized momentum in singles play, winning all six of the matchups. Four of the six went the distance, but SEU was unable to capture any individual wins or points the rest of the way.

The Hilltoppers are next in action on Friday, March 13 at the San Antonio Intercollegiate Championships in San Antonio.
