Offense Stays Hot for SEU WSOC in 5-1 Win

LAREDO, Texas –
The St. Edward's University women's soccer team won its 10th game of the season Thursday behind a 5-1 victory over Texas A&M-International at Dustdevil Soccer Field.

ELIANNA CHAVEZ opened the scoring in the 16' on a corner kick from INDIA WENTZ and the Hilltoppers (10-3-4, 8-2-3 HC) never looked back. Wentz and Chavez switched roles in the 29' to make it 2-0 and WHYTNEIGH DUFFIE headed in a pass from KATHERINE WHITMAN 59 seconds later.

SEU carried its momentum into the second half as Wentz scored her second goal of the game in the 52' off an assist from KELLY ANDRUS. MACKENZIE CHERNIUK capped the Hilltoppers' scoring in the 55' as she buried a free kick from 30 yards out.

The Dustdevils (3-11-2, 2-10-1 HC) ended the shutout in the 69' thanks to Cio Bargallo's 17th goal of the season. It would be all TAMIU could muster, as St. Edward's allowed no more shots the rest of the match.
