THE RUNDOWN

AUSTIN, Texas – Junior forward Dorian Lopez scored 31 points, grabbed 10 rebounds and St. Edward's pulled away late to defeat Eastern New Mexico (3-2) 96-83 at the RCC Friday.

In a game that got chippy at the end and saw a technical foul on each side, SEU showed resiliency after an 11-point halftime lead was cut to two with 6:17 remaining. ENMU's Zach Parker hit a jumper to make the score 77-75 in favor of the home team before the Hilltoppers (5-1) turned on the jets with a 19-4 run over the next 4:28 with Lopez scoring 10 points in the stretch to put the game away.

SEU's long-range effort saw the Hilltoppers hit 14 3-pointers on 24 attempts, and the home team shot .567 for the game, the second-best effort of the season. Four other Hilltoppers scored in double figures along with Lopez; Cory McKendree had 16, James Taylor had 15 off the bench, Sean Phillips scored 14 and Landon Goesling added 10.

• Dorian Lopez's 31 points were the most since Ramir Burton had 37 vs. Newman Dec. 17, 2015
• Lopez's 10 rebounds gave him his second double-double of the season; it was the 19th game of his career to have double-digit points and fifth game to have double-digit rebounds.
• Lopez's seven 3-point field goals were tied for eighth-most in school history.
• Cory McKendree was a perfect 6-for-6 from the floor, which tied for the ninth-most field goals made without a miss in school history.
• McKendree's 16 points gave him 10 career games with double-digit points and five this season.
• McKendree's five blocks were tied for fourth-most in school history.
• Landon Goesling's 10 points kept his streak of double-figure scoring games alive with at least 10 in each of SEU's six games this season.
• Sean Phillips cored 14 points including 4-of-6 from 3-point land to reach double figures for the fourth time this season.
• James Taylor hit 6-of-11 shots from the floor to finish with 15 points, which gave him 29 career games with 10+ and four in 2017-18.
• SEU now leads the all-time series with ENMU, 2-1, and the Hilltoppers are 2-0 vs. the Greyhounds at home.

"Our fans, our bench, everybody from top to bottom was in it with us. We felt the presence and felt like we can do this so we had to go do what we had to do. It just shows what we're capable of."

STAT OF THE GAME I
14 – SEU's 14 3-point field goals were a season high and tied for eighth most in a game in school history.
