SAN ANTONIO – The St. Edward's softball team dropped an 8-0 decision Sunday to No. 12 Central Oklahoma in the final game of the Rattler Invitational.
St. Edward's (6-10) ends the tournament in fourth place and will look to turn things around Tuesday with a non-conference matchup against Texas A&M-Commerce.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Central Oklahoma jumped out to a 5-0 lead after the first inning.
- The Bronchos tallied three hits and were helped by a St. Edward's error to take the early advantage.
- The Central Oklahoma pitching staff kept the Hilltopper lineup off balance all game, as SEU was only able to muster one hit.
- The Bronchos pushed across another run in the fourth inning and ended the game in the fifth inning with two more runs for the run-rule victory.
HILLTOPPER NOTES
- SHELBY JANDA picked up the only hit for St. Edward's with her leadoff single in the fifth inning.
- The Hilltoppers have lost three times to Central Oklahoma this season and trail the all-time series, 5-2.
- St. Edward's has faced seven ranked teams this season.
- Today's game ends the tournament portion of the Hilltoppers' 2017 schedule.
