AUSTIN, Texas – Home runs by KAROLINA RODRIGUEZ and KAYLA APPLEBY gave St. Edward's softball a come-from-behind, 4-3 win Friday over Texas A&M-International at Diane Daniels Field.
 
St. Edward's (15-24, 7-3 Heartland) moves into a tie for second place with TAMU-International (13-23, 7-3 Heartland). The Hilltoppers broke a two game conference losing streak.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED
W-Slatten (7-8), L-Thompson (8-10)

• TAMU-International started the scoring in the second inning with two runs off a leadoff walk and two timely singles.
• St. Edward's responded in a big way in the bottom of the second when Rodriguez launched a three-run home run to take the lead.
• The Dustdevils manufactured a run in the third inning on a leadoff walk, sacrifice bunt, and passed ball.
• Appleby responded for the Hilltoppers in the bottom of the third inning, launching her fourth home run of the season over the monster in left field for a 4-3 lead.
• Hilltopper starting pitcher LAUREN SLATTEN took it from there, allowing only two baserunners the rest of the way.

 
HILLTOPPER NOTES

• Slatten picked her third win in her last four starts, allowing three runs (two earned) on four hits while racking up seven strikeouts.
• Slatten moves into seventh place on the SEU career strikeout list with 326 punchouts.
• Rodriguez and SAMI WILLIAMS both tallied two hits.
• ALEX MAYFIELD increased her hitting streak to nine games and MEGAN HOFFMAN has reached base in 12 straight games.
• St. Edward's increases its lead in the all-time series to 29-13.
