Volleyball Falls 3-2 to Texas A&M International

LAREDO, Texas – Despite out-hitting Texas A&M International the St. Edward's volleyball team dropped their match 3-2 Saturday.
 
TAMIU took the first set while St. Edward's was held to just eight kills in the set, falling 25-22. The Hilltoppers were able to rebound, however, and take the second and third set convincingly. SEU posted 13 kills and 16 kills in the sets to win 25-19, 25-21 and take a 2-1 set lead.
 
Despite 17 kills in the fourth set while holding TAMIU to 11 and an .150 attack percentage, the Hilltoppers were unable to pull it out, dropping the set 25-23 to force a fifth set.
 
St. Edward's started the fifth set well, leading 5-1 early before the Dustdevils stormed back to even the score 9-9. Texas A&M International got crucial points late off Hilltopper errors and closed out the set 15-13 to win the match 3-2.
 
MELISSA MCNEIL led with 16 kills while MADDIE MIKSCH added 12. JULIA HARTLEY led with 22 digs and 27 assists while Parked added in 6 blocks.
 
SEU drops to 12-10 overall and 2-4 in Heartland Conference play while TAMIU improves to 4-15 overall and 2-4 in conference. The Hilltoppers return home to face Dallas Baptist on Tuesday night with first-serve set for 7 pm.
