AUSTIN, Texas – St. Edward's extended their win streak to four with a 96-71 win over Schreiner University Saturday afternoon.
A tempered start to the game quickly gave way as the Hilltoppers steadily built on their lead and took a ten point advantage into halftime, 37-27.
SEU had a balanced attack throughout the frame with COREY SHERVILL leading the way with nine points and nine rebounds. The Mountaineers were held to just one free throw and 20% from three point range while being forced into nine turnovers.
ASHTON SPEARS' three from the top of the key put the Hilltoppers up 20, 69-49, with 9:09 to play in the second half. Schreiner never got closer than 18 points in the final nine minutes as SEU closed out the win.
Shervill was huge in the second half, ending with 20 points and 10 rebounds in 31 minutes of action. LUKE PLUYMEN chipped in 17 points, going 4-5 from long range and 5-6 from the free throw line while Spears added 16 with a team high three steals. AUGUST HAAS posted eight assists in the win.
The Hilltoppers move to 10-1 on the year and remain at home for one final game before the holiday break, taking on Western New Mexico on Monday at 2 pm.
