AUSTIN, Texas – Four Hilltoppers scored in double figures as SEU extended their win streak to five with a 98-85 win over Western New Mexico Monday afternoon.

SEU was slow to start offensively, going just over four minutes before netting their first field goal. Thanks to their defensive efforts the deficit wasn't much and the Hilltoppers tied the game by the 12 minute mark 12-12.

Despite the slow start St. Edward's was able to put together runs to build a nine point lead, 24-15, with eight minutes to play in the half. By the end of the frame SEU had pushed their lead to 12, 44-32.

Within five and a half minutes into the second half the Hilltopper's lead had ballooned to 21, 59-38, on AUGUST HAAS' layup. With a comfortable lead in hand St. Edward's easily held off the Mustangs the rest of the way despite WNMU shooting 68% from the floor and 60% from three-point range in the second half.

Haas led the way with a career-high 23 points on 8-11 shooting from the field while adding a team high five assists. ASHTON SPEARS added 18 with RYAN GARZA adding 15 and DORIAN LOPEZ 12. LUCAS DORIA grabbed a team high 10 boards while SEU out-rebounded WNMU 37-26.

The Hilltoppers will take a much deserved break heading into the holidays and return to action at hom on December 31, taking on Paul Quinn College at 2 pm.
