THE RUNDOWN
SAN ANTONIO, Texas – St. Edward's women's tennis team continue to impress this season as they defeat No. 20 Laredo 9-0 and No. 16 Trinity 6-3 at the Butch Newman Tennis Center Friday.
 
The Hilltoppers handled business vs. Laredo (0-2) early with a pair of 8-1 victories to open doubles competition, and ELISA GUILLEN and FANNI NOVAK would secure the sweep by defeating Jenn Hndsnurscher and Monika Cantu on court No. 2, 9-7. ISABELA YOUNG played a perfect match on singles court No. 6 to defeat T. Ramierz and Guillen would close the door with a 6-2, 6-0 win over Kelly Olivaria.
 
SEU did not miss a beat in between matches and jumped out to another 2-0 lead in doubles before the Tigers (1-5) won the final flight. PAOLA CARPIO and BETH HAYWARD took down their opponents in straight sets in singles flights two and three, respectively, and VALENTINA MARTINEZ defeated Zoe Kaffen, 6-3, 6-4 on singles flight No. 5 to win the match for the Hilltoppers.

• LAURA GALVAN and ISABELA YOUNG improve to 5-0 in doubles play.
• MARISSA WILLIAMS def. Jenn Hundsnurscher, 6-2, 6-0 on singles court No. 2.
• PAOLA CARPIO notched her 35^th career singles win by defeating Monika Cantu, 6-1, 6-0.
• VALENTINA MARTINEZ topped Chantal Lozano, 6-4, 6-1.
• FANNI NOVAK defeated Priscilla Morales 3-6, 6-2, 11-9 on singles court No. 5.

• Novak defeated Francesca Canjar, 7-5, 6-4. 
• BETH HAYWARD's doubles win was the 25^th of her career.
• VALENTINA MARTINEZ's doubles winwas her tenth of the season.
• Galvan and Guillen are now 5-0 this spring in doubles.
