WTEN Sweeps its Way to 10-0 Start to Open Firestorm Classic

Hilltoppers win back-to-back 9-0 matches for the second time this season

THE RUNDOWN
PHOENIX, Ariz. –
St. Edward's women's tennis continues to dominate as they defeated both Colorado Mesa and Holy Names, 9-0 to begin its five-match journey at the Firestorm Classic in Phoenix, Ariz.
 
The Hilltoppers (10-0) were all over the Mavericks (5-7) and Hawks (2-5) from the very beginning. In both matches, SEU took the doubles flights in order 1,2,3, before continuing to strong-arm their opponents in the singles flights. St. Edward's is now 2-0 all-time vs. Colorado Mesa and set the tone in what was their first ever meeting with Holy Names.
 
HIGHLIGHTS
• FANNI NOVAK and ISABELA YOUNG each recorded their tenth career singles wins vs. Colorado Mesa.
• BETH HAYWARD logged her 15th doubles win of the seasonvs. Colorado Mesa.
• Head coach Kendall Brooks recorded her 55th win with SEU vs. Colorado Mesa.
• SEU women's tennis program recorded its 275th win in the 9-0 match vs. Holy Names.
• VALENTINA MARTINEZ logged her 40th career doubles win vs. Holy Names.

The Hilltoppers will have their toughest test yet when they take on No. 16 Sonoma State at 12 p.m. CT. They will end the day vs. Arizona Christian at 5:30 p.m. CT. Results following the match will be accessible at GoHilltoppers.com.
