WTEN Keeps Streak Alive with 6-3 Win Over SE Oklahoma State

Hilltoppers are now 6-0 vs. regionally ranked opponents this season

DURANT, Okla. –
The St. Edward's women's tennis team defeated Southeastern Oklahoma State, 6-3 at the Southeastern Tennis Complex to improve to 16-0. The win marks the programs highest win total since the 2009 season when they won 18 matches.  
 
The Hilltoppers (16-0) took all three doubles flights highlighted by BETH HAYWARD and VALENTINA MARTINEZ's 8-3 win on court No. 1, marking their ninth consecutive doubles victory. LAURA GALVAN's 6-4, 7-5 win in the second singles flight gave SEU a 4-0 lead and after two wins by the Savage Storm (2-4), Martinez wrapped up the match with a straight set win over Chiara Berg, 6-2, 7-5. ELISA GUILLEN claimed the final win for SEU on flight No. 6, 7-6 (5-0), 6-1.
 
HIGHLIGHTS
• SEU improves to 3-1 all-time vs. SEOSU.
• VALENTINA MARTINEZ recorded her 45th career doubles win.
• PAOLA CARPIO and LAURA GALVAN each registered their 20th career doubles win.

WHAT'S NEXT
The Hilltoppers will have arguably its toughest match of the season when they square off vs. No. 11 Northeastern State tomorrow at noon at the NSU Tennis Courts in Tahlequah, Okla. Match results will be posted at GoHilltoppers.com at its conclusion.
