WICHITA, Kan. - St. Edward's offense was nearly unstoppable as the Hilltoppers handed Ouachita Baptist their first loss of the season, winning in straight sets 3-0.
SEU started strong to lead 13-7 early in the contest and never relinquished the lead, winning the first set 25-21.
St. Edward's started the second set strong, taking an early 2-0 lead. Midway through the set the Hilltoppers were able to build a three-point advantage, leading 16-13 with two kills from KATE HENDRIX, forcing OBU into a timeout to stop the run. The timeout did little to slow SEU as the lead swelled to 19-14 and eventually closed out the set 25-18.
St. Edward's dominated the third set, taking a huge 17-8 lead over the Tigers and cruised to the win 25-13. SEU hit .289 in the set while holding OBU to -.059.
ALEXA MCANDREW led the way with nine kills while hitting .235 on the evening. MIKAYLA PARKER posted a .625 attack percentage with five kills and no errors. MADISON HEALD had 18 assists in the win while MORGAN BECKHAM logged 21 digs. Parker had an impressive outing at the net, posting eight blocks on the evening.
The win improves St. Edward's to 7-2 on the year. They return to action in Wichita on Friday at noon to face Central Missouri.
