Women’s soccer forces crucial scoreless tie at #8 DBU

Box Score
DALLAS – In the most anticipated match of the season, the Hilltopper women's soccer team forced No. 8 Dallas Baptist to a 0-0 tie to remain atop the Lone Star Conference standings Thursday evening.

DBU steadily attacked while trying to keep the pace of play slow in the first half, attempting to hold SEU's high-powered offense quiet.

The second half was a complete reversal as play rushed from one end of the field to the other. The Hilltoppers had a great look with under ten minutes to play as ASHLEY WILSON broke free deep in Patriot territory, but she played it across goal allowing the DBU defense to recover and prevent St. Edward's from striking.

Just moments later DBU had their best look, firing off a shot in front of goal that went off the crossbar, keeping the contest scoreless.

Neither team was able to net the game winner in either overtime frame as the game wound to a close.

SEU trailed 9-4 in shots but were +4 in corner kicks.

ANNABEL SWEENEY posted the shutout with three saves in the contest.

The Hilltoppers move to 10-4-2 on the season and 9-0-2 in LSC play and remain the conference leaders with two matches to play. SEU returns to action on Saturday, facing Texas Woman's at 7 p.m.
