AUSTIN, Texas – The St. Edward's men's basketball continued their win streak with a 99-69 win over Southwestern Tuesday evening to open their home slate.

SEU jumped out to a quick 7-0 lead, but Southwestern battled back to pull within one, 12-11. ASHTON SPEARS sparked another run, scoring nine straight to put the Hilltoppers up 21-11 with 12:27 to play in the half.

The Pirates only briefly cut the lead to single digits the rest of the first frame while St. Edward's watched their lead swell to as many as 23 in the frame. The Hilltoppers went into the break leading 53-34.

St. Edward's dominated the second half, pushing their lead to nearly 40 by the halfway point, 84-48, before closing out the win.

JAKE KRAFKA and Spears led the way with 20 points each while DORIAN LOPEZ chipped in 13 and AUGUST HAAS 11.

The Hilltoppers improve to 3-0 on the season and return to action on Thursday, facing Trinity University at home at 7 pm.
