AUSTIN – St. Edward's men's basketball led by 34 at halftime and went on cruise control in the second half to defeat Trinity, 103-66, on Thursday evening.

SEU shot an impressive 56.3 percent from the floor and 40.5 percent from 3-point range throughout the contest while holding the Tigers to 40.6 percent shooting from the field.
ASHTON SPEARS led all scorers with 29 points on 11-13 shooting, 4-5 from three-point range. The senior guard scored 26 of his 29 in the first half.
DORIAN LOPEZ posted his first double-double of the season with 10 points and 10 boards as the Hilltoppers outrebounded TU 41-31.
AUGUST HAAS posted a game-high nine assists, which also tied a season best for the senior from Copenhagen, Denmark.
Ten of the 11 Hilltoppers that appeared in the game scored, including five that reached double figures.
RYAN GARZA (14 points),
JAKE KRAFKA (13) and
COREY SHERVILL (11) joined Spears and Lopez in double digits.

St. Edward's was also sharp defensively, forcing Trinity into 24 turnovers with 15 steals.

SEU improves to 4-0 on the season and remain in their long home stand to host Schreiner on Saturday. Tipoff is scheduled for 3 p.m.
