DALLAS, Texas – St. Edward's senior
ALEXA MCANDREW was tabbed as a first team all-LSC selection while first-year
MAYA SMALLS earned a second team nod as announced at the annual awards banquet at the Lone Star Conference Tournament Thursday evening.
McAndrew, an outside hitter from Eureka, Mo., ranks eighth in the conference in kills, averaging 3.08 kills per set. She leads the team in kills with 277 and boasts a .226 attack percentage.
A difference-maker defensively as well, McAndrew is averaging nearly three digs per set and has added 28 blocks on the season.
Smalls, a ride-side from San Antonio, Texas, has been an emotional lynch pin for SEU. She has averaged 1.65 kills per set with a .267 attack percentage in her first season on the Hilltop. Smalls is also one of the best at the net defensively for St. Edward's, recording 71 blocks on the season with a team-high nine solo blocks.
The Hilltoppers return to action Thursday after earning a first-round bye in the Lone Star Conference Tournament. They face UAFS at noon at Texas A&M-Commerce.
