AUSTIN – The St. Edward's volleyball team closed their regular-season home schedule in emphatic fashion, posting a 3-0 win over Lubbock Christian Saturday afternoon.
A choppy first-half start gave way to a dominating performance to close the first set, winning 25-14 while hitting .244 with just four attack errors.
SEU was able to edge out the Chaps in the second set, winning 25-23 while hitting under .200 for the set. The Hilltoppers rode the momentum into the third set and easily closed out the third set 25-17 to complete the sweep.
CAMILLE DEDEAUX and
KATARINA MENDEZ led the Hilltopper attack with 12 kills each while
MAYA SMALLS added six. Nicole Grant led defensively with 14 digs and
EMILY TRAN added 10 digs and 15 assists.
The win improves St. Edward's to 16-8 overall and 11-5 in the Lone Star Conference. They remain atop the division and are set to earn a first round bye in the LSC Championship with one week to play. They head to Texas A&M International on Friday with first serve set for 2 pm.
