AUSTIN – DEIJAH BLANKS and
SAMMIE DUFEK both scored in double figures, but it was not enough for St. Edward's to derail 12th-ranked Texas A&M-Commerce, which collected an 80-55 win on Saturday at the RCC.
The Lions (8-0) had four players reach double digits and three more finish with 9 points apiece, while the team shot 47 percent (31 of 66) from the floor.
Meanwhile, the Hilltoppers (5-2) were limited to 31.9 percent shooting (22 of 69) from the field and 19 percent (4 of 21) from beyond the arc.
Texas A&M-Commerce built a 28-13 lead through the first quarter and led 44-25 at halftime.
Blanks scored a game-high 17 points, while Dufek tallied a double-double of 12 points and 11 rebounds for St. Edward's.
The Hilltoppers will return to action on Thursday, Dec. 12 against No. 17 West Texas A&M. Tipoff is scheduled for 5:30 p.m.
