Box Score AUSTIN, Texas – Concordia (TX) proved to be no match for the mighty Hilltopper Women's Tennis team as SEU swept the match Friday afternoon, winning 9-0.
 
KATE MALAZONIA and ELISA GUILLEN set the tone with a dominating 6-0 win at #1 doubles while Paolo Carpio and LOLI PERIM nearly matched the effort with a 6-1 win over Steens/Phillips at #3. LAURA GALVAN and FANNI NOVAK completed the doubles sweep by winning 6-4 at #2 doubles over Ellinwood/Kempf.
 
As singles matches got underway it was much of the same as the Hilltoppers easily handled the Tornados in straight sets. Perim started the trend by not losing a single set on her way to a 6-0, 6-0 win over Stevens at #5 singles. Carpio, Martinez, Guillen and Novak all dropped just one set each at #2, #3, #4 and #6 singles, respectively. LAURA GALVAN had the toughest outing, but still made it look easy, defeating Popovich 6-4, 6-0 in #1 singles.
 
The Hilltoppers open the season at 1-0 and return to the courts on February 9 as they host Laredo Community College at 9 am at the Austin Tennis Academy.
