AUSTIN, Texas – Just like the chill that blew into Central Texas, the Hilltopper offense hit a cold front Saturday as St. Edward's Baseball split Saturday's double-header against Drury.
GAME 1: SEU 1 – DRURY 0
After just two collective baserunners in the first two innings, SEU took to the plate and posted the only run of the game in the third inning.
RYAN MCPHAIL drew a walk and stole second to move into scoring position with just one out. Morgan's Allen grounder advanced McPhail to third and he was brought home by
DYLAN MACKIN who singled to left field.
RYAN HILL took care of the rest on the mound, throwing seven shutout innings, allowing just one hit with one walk and striking out 10 to earn the win.
ROBBIE LAMMONS led at the plate, going 2-2.
GAME 2: SEU 0 – DRURY 7
Drury posted one run in the first and added three in the fifth, one in the seventh and two in the eighth while holding SEU to just one hit in the nine-inning contest. St. Edward's had just six baserunners in the loss.
COOPER BAILEY suffered the loss, allowing one hit and one run in 1.1 innings of work. Pinch hitter
NATHAN MEDRANO logged the only hit for the Hilltoppers in game two.
With the split, the Hilltoppers move to 6-2 on the year. They close the series against Drury on Sunday with a single game. First pitch is set for noon.
