DALLAS, Texas – St. Edward's offense was firing on all cylinders as they defeated Dallas Baptist 94-81 Saturday afternoon to improve to 24-2 on the year and 13-1 in Heartland Conference action.

Both teams were tight to start the game but SEU quickly returned to their high-intensity offense, going on an 8-0 run over two and a half minutes to take a seven-point advantage, 13-6. DBU answered to pull within two, 13-11, but ASHTON SPEARS' layup kicked off another run, fueled by three three-pointers by LUKE PLUYMEN, to put the Hilltoppers up 20, 37-17, with 4:15 remaining in the half.

Spears' three at the buzzer sent St. Edward's into the locker room with a 21-point advantage, 45-24.

SEU didn't let off the gas despite the commanding lead, quickly extending their lead to 27 early in the second half and led by as many as 28 on CORY MCKENDREE's second dunk of the game with 13:50 to go.

With the win never in question, the Hilltoppers closed out the game, cruising to the final buzzer and never allowing the Patriots closer than 13 points.

AUGUST HAAS led all scorers with 24 points, going 7-15 from the field and 4-7 from three-point range. DORIAN LOPEZ chipped in 22 points and Spears 15. The Hiltoppers shot 50% from the floor and 45.2% from long range while holding DBU to just eight made threes and forcing 18 turnovers.

St. Edward's closes regular season play with a pair of games next week, starting with Texas A&M International on Wednesday, February 27 at 7:30 pm.
