Box Score MIDLAND, Texas - The St. Edward's Women's Tennis team was nearly untouchable over the weekend and remained perfect after defeating UT Permian Basin 7-0, finishing the weekend 21-0 in matches.
SEU swept doubles action to take the opening point of the match.
BETH HAYWARD and
VALENTINA MARTINEZ won 6-3 at #1 while
KATE MALAZONIA/
LOLI PERIM (#2) and
PAO CARPIO/
FANNI NOVAK (#3) breezed by their opponents, winning 6-1.
The domination continued into singles play with
LAURA GALVAN (#3) blowing by Hoelting 6-1, 6-0. Malazonia earned the third point of the match for the Hilltoppers, winning 6-2, 6-0 in #1 singles. Carpio's win at #4, 6-1, 6-4, handed the win to St. Edward's, but SEU forged on as
ELISA GUILLEN defeated Obreque 6-4, 7-6 (2) in #6 singles and Perim (#5) easily downed Prats 6-0, 6-1 to complete the perfect weekend.
St. Edward's improves to 5-1 on the year with the win. They return to action on March 1, facing Oklahoma Baptist in San Angelo, Texas at 2 pm.
