BAILEY HILL drained six three-pointers in St. Edward's 74-50 win over Texas A&M International, becoming the career leader in made three-pointers in program history with 169, eclipsing Carol Hamilton's 166 who played for the Hilltoppers from 1998-02.
It was a balanced start to the game as both teams looked to gain control of the contest. SEU took a slight two-point lead, 13-11, into the second quarter.
Once the second quarter got underway the Hilltoppers wasted no time taking over, going on a 13-0 run that lasted most of the frame. SEU held the Dust Devils scoreless for eight minutes and allowed just one field goal in the quarter to lead 28-14 at the half.
SEU held a comfortable, double-digit lead the rest of the way as the Hilltoppers hovered near 50% from the floor and three-point range in the second half to secure the win.
Hill led all scorers with a season-high 27 points, going 9-12 from the field and 6-9 from three-point range, adding six boards, two steals and two assists.
MARYAM WILCHER added 14 points while
ISABEL HERNANDEZ led on the glass with eight rebounds.
St. Edward's improves to 15-12 on the year with the win and remain in third place in the Heartland Conference standings. They close regular season play on Saturday, facing Lubbock Christian on the road at noon.
