AUSTIN – Texas A&M-Kingsville scored in six of nine innings, including erupting for 10 in the final two, en route to an 18-5 victory over St. Edward's on Tuesday at Lucian-Hamilton Field.
The Hilltoppers (11-14) managed solo marks in three frames and then scored twice in the seventh.
The Javelinas (16-8) posted 17 hits, including seven for extra bases.
BLAKE HOLUB led a trio of St. Edward's bats with two knocks. The sophomore was 2 for 4 with a solo home run and two RBIs.
DYLAN MACKIN and
JACOB VASQUEZ also had two hits apiece and a each drove in a run.
Eight Hilltoppers saw time on the mound in the loss.
TYLER INGRAM posted 1.2 scoreless stanzas out of the bullpen.
TYLER BROWN (1-2) suffered the loss after giving up three runs (two earned) over 1.2 innings to start the contest.
St. Edward's will open Heartland Conference play this weekend, as Oklahoma Christian comes to town for a three-game set. The series will begin with a doubleheader on Friday. First pitch is scheduled at 1:30 p.m.
