ARLINGTON – The 19th-ranked St. Edward's women's tennis team blanked Newman, 4-0, in the semifinals of the Heartland Conference Championship on Friday morning at the Arlington Tennis Center.
The Hilltoppers (18-4), who won their eighth consecutive contest, will meet No. 40 St. Mary's in the Heartland championship match at 9 a.m. Saturday.
St. Edward's won the doubles point after picking up victories at the first and third flights.
The Hilltoppers then earned a trio of straight-sets wins in singles action to clinch the contest and advance.
KATE MALAZONIA provided the clinching point for the second straight match with a 6-2, 6-3 win at No. 2 singles.
