KINGSVILLE, Texas - St. Edward's Volleyball wrapped up with 2019 Emerald Beach Hotel Invitational by defeating Westminster 3-1 before suffering a 3-1 loss to Augustana.
ALEXA MCANDREW paced the Hilltopper offense against Westminster, hitting .354 with a team high 19 kills and was also second on the team in digs with 17. SEU dominated the first and second sets, winning 25-20 and 25-13 before dropping set three 25-21.
SEU rebounded and went back to work in the fourth set, winning 25-14 while hitting .452 as a team to close out the win.
CAMILLE DEDEAUX had 21 digs to lead the Hilltoppers defensively while
EMILY TRAN had 24 assists and
MADISON HEALD 21 with an impressive nine aces.
After a long break St. Edward's returned to the court for their toughest matchup of the weekend, Augustana. The Hilltoppers pulled out the win in set one 25-21 despite hitting only .171. SEU wasn't able to keep the momentum, however, dropping the next three sets 25-14, 25-16, 25-19.
KATARINA MENDEZ led with 10 kills and just one attack error while Nicole Grant had a team high 20 digs.
SEU moves to 5-3 on the season and will open Lone Star Conference action next weekend, facing #9 Tarleton on Friday, September 20 in Stephenville, Texas at 6 pm.
