COREY SHERVILL matched his career-high of 24 points to lead #7 St. Edward's to a 69-59 win over Oklahoma Christian Thursday night. The win improves SEU to 11-1 on the season and 5-1 in Lone Star Conference play with the Hilltoppers still unbeaten at home.
Despite shooting below 40 percent from the free throw line, field, and three-point range in the first half the Hilltoppers trailed by just two points at the break, 28-26.
DORIAN LOPEZ got SEU started on the right foot in their first offensive possession, knocking down a three to kick off a 15-2 run that put St. Edward's up 11, 41-30, just over four minutes into the second half.
SEU pushed their lead to 15, 54-39, as
COREY SHERVILL got hot from the perimeter with back-to-back three's, but Oklahoma Christian refused to back down and pulled within seven, 57-50, with 7:37 remaining.
RYAN GARZA's three on the ensuing possession put the Hilltoppers back on top by double digits and they never looked back to secure the win.
Shervill was 8-10 from the floor and 6-7 from three-point range to lead all scorers. Lopez added 15 points and
JAKE KRAFKA posted his second double-double of the season with 11 points and a game-high 10 boards.
AUGUST HAAS was superb running the offense, tying his career-high in assists with 13 and added four steals.
St. Edward's remains at home to face UA Fort Smith on Saturday for a 3 pm tip.
