DEIJAH BLANKS posted a career-high 35 points in an 85-72 loss to Angelo State University Thursday evening.
ASU took a seven-point lead into the second quarter and led by as many as 17 before the Hilltoppers were able to claw back within ten, 39-29, at halftime.
The Rams' lead ballooned to 22, 63-41, with 3:20 to go in the third, but once again SEU battled back to come within eight, 77-69, with a three from D'Aviyon Magazine. That is as close as the Hilltoppers were able to get with ASU closing the game from the free throw line, going 9-10 from the charity stripe in the final minute and a half to close out the win.
Blanks posted 35 points in 34 minutes, the eighth most points scored in a single-game in SEU history. She went 13-22 from the floor, 2-5 from three-point range and 7-11 from the free throw line. Blanks also led on the boards with seven rebounds.
St. Edward's falls to 11-6 on the season and 7-5 in the Lone Star Conference. They return to action on Saturday, facing #9 Lubbock Christian at 1 pm.
