LUBBOCK, Texas – St. Edward's fell behind early and was unable to fully recover falling 72-49 to #9 Lubbock Christian Saturday.
LCU opened the game on a 9-0 run and led by 17 at the end of the first quarter, 26-9. The Chaps led by as many as 22 in the second quarter but the Hilltoppers held LCU scoreless in the final three minutes and closed the frame on an 8-0 run to trail by 14, 37-23, at the break.
St. Edward's pulled within eight, 40-32, on
DEIJAH BLANKS' jumper four minutes into the third quarter, but that is as close as SEU would get as Lubbock Christian found a new gear offensively.
CHARLI BECKER led St. Edward's with 12 points, going 5-9 from the floor as the Hiltoppers were held to 31.7 percent from the field and 13.3 percent from three-point range.
JAZMINE JACKSON had a career-high 12 rebounds with SEU losing the battle of the boards 46-29.
St. Edward's falls to 11-7 overall, 7-6 in Lone Star Conference play and returns home to host Tarleton for a crucial in division contest on Thursday, January 30 at 5:30 pm.
