Blanks' 29 points not enough in 66-62 loss to UAFS

AUSTIN – Mar'Shalia Lollie netted a game-high 39 points and pulled down 15 rebounds to lead UAFS to a come-from-behind 66-62 win over St. Edward's Saturday at the RCC.

The Lady Lions (6-7, 3-4 LSC) trailed 47-44 entering the fourth quarter. Lollie scored 17 of the team's 22 points in the final period to push the visitors past the Hilltoppers (8-4, 4-3 LSC).

Lollie put UAFS in the lead for good with 26 seconds left on the clock. She grabbed an offensive board and then put in a layup to give the Lady Lions a 63-62 advantage.

St. Edward's turned over the ball on the ensuing inbound, which led to a breakaway layup for Alexsis Brown, pushing the advantage for the Lady Lions to three points.

Following a timeout, the Hilltoppers were looking for a 3-pointer, but DEIJAH BLANKS' attempt fell short and UAFS grabbed the rebound before a foul. Brown connected on one of two attempts from the charity stripe with six seconds remaining to seal the win.

Blanks scored a season-high 29 points to lead St. Edward's. She also grabbed seven boards.

The Hilltoppers, which led 34-32 at halftime, were limited to 38.9 percent (21 of 54) from the field, including just 21.4 percent (3 of 14) beyond the arc.

St. Edward's will resume action Thursday, Jan. 9 at Midwestern State. Tipoff is slated for 5:30 p.m. in Wichita Falls.
