AUSTIN – After trailing early the St. Edward's women's basketball team outscored Texas Woman's 30-9 in the second quarter on their way to an 85 – 62 win Saturday.
SEU started the game on a 7-0 run but found themselves in a five-point deficit at the end of the first quarter, 20-15. The Hilltoppers held TWU scoreless in the final seven minutes and scored 24 unanswered points to take a 16-point lead, 45-29, into the locker room.
Following halftime, St. Ed's watched their lead balloon to over 20 points early in the frame and were never challenged to close out the win.
The Hilltoppers shot 45.5 percent from the floor and was led by
DEIJAH BLANKS who posted 20 points in the win. D'Avyion Magazine added 15,
LEXI CUNNINGHAM 14 and
CHARLI BECKER 13. Cunningham and Magazine led on the boards with six rebounds each while Magazine posted six assists.
SEU improves to 12-8 on the season and 8-7 in Lone Star Conference play. They return to the road to face Texas A&M International on Thursday, February 6 at 5:30 pm.
