AUSTIN – St. Edward's junior RYAN GARZA has been selected as the Raising Cane's Player of the Week, it was announced Monday.

Garza helped the eighth-ranked Hilltopper men's basketball team to two home wins last week. The 6-foot, 180-pound guard came off the bench and averaged 18.0 points per game, while shooting 64.7 percent from the field, including 64.3 percent from beyond the arc.

The Edinburg native scored a career-high 24 points and posted three steals, two rebounds and one assist in St. Edward's 94-81 victory over UT Permian Basin last Thursday. He added 12 points, two board, one assist and a steal in a 77-65 triumph against Western New Mexico two days later.

Garza is averaging 8.2 points in 25 games this season for the Hilltoppers. He has knocked down 52 3-pointers, which ranks second on the team.

St. Edward's will return to action Thursday at Dallas Baptist. Tipoff is scheduled for 7 p.m. in Dallas.
