AUSTIN – St. Edward's volleyball put on a show defensively with 19 block assists and one solo block as the Hilltoppers defeated Cameron 3-0 Friday evening.  
 
St. Edward's dominated from the outset, jumping out to a 6-0 lead behind dominant arms offensively. The Hilltopper defense then took over, posting six blocks in the first set to cruise to a 25-9 win.
 
A measured start to set two saw the match deadlocked at 4-4. St. Edward's steadily pulled away throughout, using outstanding hustle plays to win the set 25-14. 
 
St. Edward's was firing on all cylinders in the final set and were never threatened, confidently closing out the win 25-14.
 
The Hilltoppers hit .269 for the match with HALLE SANDERS leading the charge with ten kills. CAROLINE SWAN added nine and KAITLYN KRAFKA eight. EMILY TRAN posted 31 assists in the win while MAYA SMALLS had four aces.
 
Defensively, JILLIENNE CONNELL and Sanders led with five blocks each while SARAH KONOVODOFF led with 12 digs on the evening.
 
St. Edward's improves to 10-9 on the season and 5-7 in Lone Star Conference play. They remain at home to host Midwestern State on Saturday for a 1 pm match. Prior to the contest, four seniors will be recognized for their contributions.
