FORT SMITH, Ark. - St. Edward's men's basketball was held to just 33.3 percent from the floor and 20.5 percent from three-point range in a 69-63 loss to UAFS Friday evening. The loss drops SEU to 9-7 on the year and 9-7 in Lone Star Conference play.
The lead bounced back and forth throughout the first half and the Hilltoppers went into the break down two, 30-28.
UAFS posted their largest lead of the game, seven points, with 16:41 to play, but SEU managed to take the lead on a pair of free throws from
DANIEL VENZANT, 50-49, with just over nine minutes remaining. The lead was short lived, however, as the Lions regained control with 4:14 to play and never relinquished the lead.
Venzant led St. Edward's scorers with 22 points, going 8-14 from the floor with a team high four steals.
JAKE KRAFKA added 13 points and
B.J. MAXWELL ten.
LOGAN COOK once again led on the glass with 12 rebounds with Krafka grabbing eight.
St. Edward's will close the regular season at UAFS on Saturday at 4 pm.
