AUSTIN - After their win at UAFS, the St. Edward's men's basketball team earn the final spot in the 2021 Lone Star Conference Championship. The Hilltoppers will face the #1 seed, Lubbock Christian, on Tuesday.
The men's bracket for the 2021 Lone Star Conference Basketball Championship is set following the conclusion of the regular season on Saturday evening with eight teams earning bids to the tournament based on the basketball point rating system (PRS). The
point rating system is replacing winning percentage for the LSC's basketball conference standings, divisional standings and conference tournament seeding in 2020-21.
The championship will be held March 2-5-6 with quarterfinal games taking place on four campus sites on March 2 followed by the four winning teams advancing to the final site at the highest remaining seed on Friday, March 5 and Saturday, March 6.
The Chaps secured the No. 1 seed in next week's tournament with a 4.406 rating in the conference rankings finishing over one-tenth of a point ahead of the No. 2 seed WT who finished the season with a 4.292 rating. DBU is the No. 3 seed with a rating of 4.000 followed by Texas A&M-Kingsville (3.656) as the No. 4 seed. Angelo State (3.324) obtained the No. 5 seed followed by No. 6 Midwestern State (3.118), No. 7 UT Permian Basin (3.111) and No. 8 St. Edward's (2.971).
Ticket pricing and availability will be set by the host institution for each game in accordance with campus and local COVID-19 protocols, and conference championship policies.
All seven championship games will be broadcast exclusively on the LSC Digital Network at
www.lonestarconferencenetwork.com or on the LSC Digital Network OTT app. Fans will be able to purchase an LSC Basketball Championship Day Pass for $10 that will provide access to all men's and women's basketball tournament games for 24 hours starting from the time of purchase. Passes will be available for purchase on each game day.
The winner of the tournament will be named the Lone Star Conference Men's Basketball Tournament Champion and earn the league's automatic qualification to the 2021 NCAA Division II South Central Regional held March 13-14-16 in Lubbock, Texas and hosted by Lubbock Christian. The winner of the South Central Region will advance to the Elite Eight to be held March 24-25-27 in Evansville, Indiana.
