LAREDO, Texas – If we have learned anything this season it is to not count out the Hilltoppers as SEU Volleyball won 3-0 over Texas A&M International Wednesday.
The Hilltoppers held TAMIU to just .109 attack percentage while hitting .239 over the three set match.
TAMIU led early until St. Edward's used runs late to take the set one win.
MELISSA MCNEIL's kill put was the icing on the cake as SEU won the first set 25-23.
Two big runs in the second set was able to set the Hilltoppers up for success. After leading most of the set, TAMIU took a two-point lead, 21-19, but SEU was able to score four straight to close the set 25-19.
A strong 5-0 run was the difference maker in the third set as SEU confidently closed out the win.
MELISSA MCNEIL led offensively with 14 kills and just five errors on 35 attempts for a .257 hitting percentage.
KAITLYN KRAFKA added 11 kills while
EMILY TRAN posted a team high 24 assists.
Defensively, Nicole Grant posted 17 digs with McNeil adding 15.
The Hilltoppers improve to 5-6 on the year and 5-6 in Lone Star Conference play. They will await to learn their seeding and matchup information once LSC Championship brackets are released.
